I have recently aquired an MT205 "QuickTurn". Can anyone tell me if the clutch is two stage(live p.t.o.) or not?

Since you have already acquired it, you can check it yourself. Put the PTO in gear. Put the tractor in gear and drive forward. Step on the clutch and stop the tractor. If the PTO stops, it is connected to the rear wheel drivetrain. If it keeps running, then it is a live PTO.

The only time that I can think of when this is a problem is when using a rotary brush cutter. Most tractors had non-live PTOs decades ago. You can also use an over-running clutch if the PTO is not live. This clutch goes into the PTO driveline and slips when the tractor is stopped to keep the inertia of a rotary brush cutter from pushing the tractor forward through its connection to the wheel drivetrain. ....
