I had pretty well narrowed my search down to a NH TC30 or Kubota 7800 when an ad pops up in the newspaper. 2001 Long 360DTC, 62 hours, w/ Great Bend loader and a 6 foot finish mower (which I don't need).

The price is $17,000 "OBO". $17,000 seems REALLY, REALLY high to me. Corriher or Tarheel would drop a brand new TC30 w/ loader on my doorstep for a couple of thou less.

Would appreciate opinions from those who know the Long product line.

Depending on the dealer quote, this is around $2-4K below new price as equipped. the Landtrac (as it was called in 2001) 360DTC is a heck of a lot more tractor than a TC-30 as it is a fully featured machine with 12x12 synchro shuttle trans (even the three ranges are synchornized for easy shifting) two remotes , folding rops, 39HP 4 cylinder Mitsubishi engine, fully independent PTO, etc. OF course with a new one you can get 0 percent or low rate financing up to 84 months and the new Farmtracs have a 36 month powertrain warranty as standard also, but the ad did say "or offer". These are a pleasure to operate, tight turning radius, easy shifting, PTO at the flick of a switch, quick starting. I guess I should disclose that I'm a Farmtrac (Long) dealer, perhaps some users will also chime in here. ....

Actually, my mistake. It is a 2003 model, not 2001. I should have gotten my glasses when reading the ad copy.
The foldable ROPS is an absolute MUST for me - I have a 1790 barn with 77 inches overhead - no more room and no way to make more other than building a machinery shed. ....

If I see him tomorrow I will try to remember to ask.
I have an idea what he paid for tractor and attachments total.
He got a Farmtrac 360 DTC
Farmtrac 5?? loader
6' Farmtrac tiller
7' Befco finish mower
Total was just under $22,000 if I remember correctly
The Befco mower was around $2,200
So tractor loader and tiller must have been somewhere around $20,000.
I'm going by memory here so I could be off a little. ....

Just remembered, I think the tiller was in the $1500 to $1600 area which puts the tractor loader somewhere around $18,000 to $18,500 I think.
But like I said, I will try to remember to ask because my figures could be off a little.
He did mow my yard for me yesterday with it because my tractor has been tied up digging utility lines for a new house and I couldn't get to the mowing.

I spoke to the owner of the 360 DTC - he started a landscape business but has now decided, for whatever reason, to give up on the business and to go back to shift work. The tractor is stored inside. The finish mower is a Rhino. The dealer sold him a Great Bend loader because this dealer does not like the Long loaders.

I drove to a Long dealership today. They were closed, but a 360 DTC was parked outside. I, too, am not impressed by the Long loader. The absolute finest loader that I have found on a CUT is the Czech made loader on the Zetor/Centurys. In general it is much more heavily built than Long's loader and every pivot point has an easily replacable sleeve bearing.

I have an appointment later this week to go to the garage and see the Long 360 DTC. ....

chip,

There are two Long tractor dealers near me. A good friend purchased a tractor about two years ago and told me this week has waited for 3 months on a relay in teh circuit that shuts the engine off when the key it turned off.

Said one dealer could not get the relay and the other at least did not have the proper one.

Do you think this ia a supply issue or rather dealer issue?
Three months on a part wait is a loooonnnngggg time.

Yes, he likes his FarmTrac 360. He has had no problems that I am aware of (has somewhere around 3 or 400 hours on the machine). ....
