Does anyone have a good idea for marking the loader bucket level indicator rod? I have tried both paint and tape, and they both wear off very quickly. I have a 410 loader on a JD4100.

Maybe if you knurled a band around the rod with a centre punch and then painted the band. Good chance the paint in the depressions wouldn't get worn off. ....

Same line of thought as TomG, only use a Dremel moto-tool or small grinder to form a depressed ring, then fill this with paint. ....

On mine the tube is adjusted so that the rod is level with the end of the tube when the bucket is level. That way you don't have to look for a line, you just have to see if the rod is above the tube or not. The end of the rod is red so it contrast to the black tube well. This might help if your is make like mine.

Jim what is causing it to wear off. The one on my 430 loader has been painted since I bought it in December of 1999. The paint still looks fine. ....
