I bought an E2304 Hinomoto tractor a couple of weeks ago. Can someone tell me the purpose of the small lever located about 1 1/2" under the right lift arm. It rotates freely through about 45 deg of arc, but as far as I can tell it does nothing. If anyone has an E2304, would you please email your experiences, good or bad.

The lever is proably the connection to the draft control on the tiller. Tillers from Japan on some models use a mechanical draft control to maintain a preset load, just like a plow. Since you are using the tractor in the position control this lever will do nothing. It is almost impossible to get the draft control to work right on anything but the original tiller that came with the tractor and the original linkage. ....

The draft control on mine is controlled from a button on the right rear fender. I don't recall seeing this "manual" lever of other 2304's. You might check with Brent Pepper who sold me my tractor and I know he has had two others so maybe he could shed some light. tractors4u@hotmail.com ....

You are correct the setup controls for draft are on the fender, however there has to be a feedback link from the tiller to the hydraulic control system to tell the hydraulics what the tiller is doing. This lever is proably the connection point for the feedback rod from the tiller. ....

You are right, mine has an electro-mechainical switch. It is a lever type with a roller at the end. It operates off of the right side three point connection. Mine bolts up to sheet metal at the rear of the tractor. ....

Didn't the Hinomoto's have a lever on the side of the tractor to make the PTO live?..One way the pto was always on and the other way it worked only when the clutch was released? ....

Well can't really say for all Hinomoto's, because I just don't know. On my E2304, it is not what they call live pto but runs off of the single transmission clutch. It does have (4) speeds and a lever or gear shift on the side of the transmission. I have found the multiple speeds to be handy on occasion. I will often use the 2nd speed for bush hogging and leave the tractor rpms between 1500 and 2000 which is ample power. Also, I have been told to use the tiller at 540 rpms 1st rpm gear then to go up thru the range and that this will pulverize the soil, similar to potting soil. Anyway, off the subject and probably not too much help.
