Just bought an E222. Previous owner replaced hydraulic pump. Initially system seemed normal except for 'fluttering' sound when lifting bucket. Only used 3-4 times, but after starting yesterday, nothing will lift (bucket or shredder). Tractors are all new to me. Could this be due to air in the system or ????
Could use advice/suggestions.

imnezrider,

It's highly unlikely that your problems are caused by air in the system. Very few hydraulic systems are totally sealed. You probably have a fluid reservoir in your system, which would eliminate any air in the system.

More likely, you are either low on fluid, or the fluid filter is all but completely plugged. You could also have water in the hyd. fluid.

I would start by completely draining the hydraulic fluid and replacing the filter, and then add a new batch of the prescribed hydraulic fluid to the system.

Since this piece of equipment is new to you, this is the best place to start. More than likely, the fluid and filter needs to be changed anyway.

Good luck.

Joel ....
