I have a D33 with L130 Loader. Books say weight limit for the loader is 800 lbs.

Does anyone know if this will handle standard round bales? I want to be able to move them around. If it will work, what kind of implement would be best to handle them? I currently have only a 60 bucket.

here in Missouri most of our round bales weigh anywhere from 500 to 1100 pounds. so you will have to be careful and not lift too much or your tractor will not have any traction and that can be a very dangerous situation..They make a front bale spike for moving round bales ....

You might want to look at the three point hitch bale spears. The leverage even on a 500 lb bale would put you at your max. ....

Further to Art's comment, loader capacity ratings usually are measured at the bucket pins and a bale would be carried forward of the pins. Reduced capacity is a reason why some people get bucket replacement forks rather than bucket add on ones. ....

I am thinking about doing the same thing with a similarly rated FEL on my JD. I was going remove the bale from my pick-up by placing as much in the bucket as possible and then wrapping a chain around the bale to hold it in the bucket. I have done this with a huge 600lbs. box and it worked fine. The key is LOTS of counterweight on the rear. Last time I had about 800lbs( brushhog rolling on the ground w/ cement bags on deck) of counterweight and it was very stable.

If I decide to feed some round bales this is my best option other than taking the trucks tailgate off, rolling in reverse and slamming the brakes on. That will work just as well and may be an easier choice if you are just throwing the bales out in the field. ....
