My friend has a 5120 Case IH and Ac keeps shutting off. I have evacuated system, vaccum, and recharged. I have cleaned out condensor. With only 2 lbs. of freon the high side slowly creeps up until it hits the highside pressure switch and turns off compressor. I think we have a restriction some where but where??? Please help, we are in rural area and a long way to take to get repaired.

My experience is with refrigeration systems and not equipment systems and that a few years back.

It probably is on the high side of the system as that is the smallest tubing. So I would begin there: try to see or run fingers on all lines you can for a bent place in the tubing. With the noise of the engine running so the system will operate you "might" be able to use stethoscope to slide along the tubing listening for a hissing noise where a restriction is. However if there is a restriction it should be cooler past the restriction that between it and the compressor. The system will have to be running to test that and you have to keep alert to not get into belts or anything moving doing so.

The temperature will be lower and could be a good bit right past a restriction. I would try begin nearest the "low" side of the compressor and check the temp going towards the high side of the compressor. If you find the temp jumps from cool to warm (if much restriction to hot) that is probably the area.

You are certain no low side tubing is collapsing when running and there is NO moisture in the system to freeze and restrict it? It does have a dryer in the system right? Have you changed it out? Not sure vehicle systems use a dryer.

Understand you have vacuumed the system but have had to flush with a dry gas or freon before to remove moisture or trash. ....
