I have a Case 1130 Hydro and am having problems with the PTO.
Essentially the slip clutch is peened out (two halves that attach to the hysdro motor and internal shaft.
I have tried getting these resurfaced only to have them peen out again thereby allowing the PTO to slip.
I have contacted a number of parts dealers only to find the cluch assenbly has been discontinued.
Any ideas where to acquire a new slip cluch assembly would be greatly appreciated. Cannot find any info if Club Cadet parts are the same.
If not has anyone welded the two halves together?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Tuck;
Welcome to the form, there's always room for new blood around here.
I'm a bit in the dark on your term "Peened out", maybe you could explain a bit more on what you mean.
What was this slip clutch meant to protect?
Welding it may be a last resort but possibly a salvage yard could find what you need, or a machine shop could make a duplicate. The slip clutch was meant to protect something so welding it may cause you to destroy something else.

"slip clutch" may the be wrong terminology. An over-riding cluch may be more descriptive. Essentially it is made up of two "cammed" steel halves under spring pressure. When the PTO is engauged the halves "lock" together via a flat mating surface. If there is a problem when the tractor PTO is moving slower than the attached impliement the clutch allows for over-ride. (kind of similar to an external over-riding clutch) The peened (rounded) surfaces are the "flats" which engauge under power. The cluch simply slips causing a loud bang, bang sound and the impliment does not turn due to the halves not engauging.
Hope that helps ....

Tuck;
Yes, I have a better understanding of your situation now.
The only other suggestion I have would be to ask a Cub Cadet dealer to search this part as possibly being used in other models, or other brands. Companies sometimes find it easier or cheaper use a part or assembly that is common to several brands of equipment, I think that someone somewhere has what you need, but I'm just a bit in the dark on where to send you, maybe someone else here has an idea. Good luck.

Now "Jeffery" as your Mother likely called you when you got in trouble as a little kid, (often I'm sure), it seems that if Kenny and I agree and you don't. Is there a message there? HUUUMMMM.
I didn't get called "Franky" even by my Mother because I never got in trouble as a little kid. And likely Kenny didn't get called "Kenneth" by his Mom either because I can't imagine him ever being in trouble.
We had a neighbor of my Father's generation who always called me "Franklin", which it isn't, because of his never ending praise for FDR for helping him save the farm during the great depression. I have a slightly different opinon, but won't make any comments on that. I just remembeer what all them guys including my Father who agreed with the neighbor said about FDR saving the country and the farm. ....

Thanks Hardwood. We need to understand that OLD (not misspelled) Jeffery loves us, that is why he picks on us.

Tucker, lets back up a little. First what is this on? Does your tractor not have a built in overriding pto clutch? If so do you need one in the pto shaft? If not then why not just replace it with a proper size pto shaft? Without seeing it there is one reason I would think replacing is better than welding it together and that is safety. A normal PTO shaft would have to be smoother and thus less likely to snag something when running. You can also buy (well could a year or so ago) overrunning clutch assembly for PTO use if needed. ....

Yes the tractor has an internal over-riding clutch. It is located just behind the hydrostatic drive. One half is splined onto a shaft coming from the hydrostatic motor. The other half is splied onto a shaft and is spring loaded (this shaft extends to the PTO gears and output shaft.
Unfortunately, when there is a load on the PTO the over-riding clutch skips due to the "peened out" mating surfaces so simply purchasing an external clutch will not work.
As mentioned earlier, I split the tractor and had the clutch mating surfaces re-surfaced by a machine shop. This practice seems to have weakend the surfaces as it took only 1 hr of tilling to peen the surface again.
I cannot seem to locate a new over-riding cluch as Case IH indicates it is obsolete. Further I cannot seem to locate a used unit as this would also work.
The only option I can think of is to weld the two halves together and forgo the "over-ride", however this may cause more problems with additional internal part failure.
No-one up here seems to know where to locate either new or used parts.
I am hoping some-one on this board has some experience with this type of clutch system or knows where to get these parts
For a detailed view of what I am talking about go to the Case IH website or to tractorparts. com and have a look at the CASE IH 1130 Hydrostatic drive tractor und the "powertrain" tab.
Again any help or insights are greatly appreciated ....
