I recently purchased a 1995 Belarus 250 that had been setting up for 2 years (started to run some to keep it in decent shape). The tractor ran fine for one day but the next weekend after running for 30 minutes the crank case exhaust started splattering out oil.

Does anyone have any ideas to find out how to determine what the problem is?

Could be a problem but I hope not. Some similar conditions have been fixed up nice and easy with something like Marvel's Mystery Oil. If there aren't any bad sounds it might be good to bet on 'stuck rings,' which can be cleared up by an additive. However, if the engine is making bad sounds or labouring I don't think I'd want to run it long enough for an additive to work. ....

Your fuel injection pump sprang a leak. Remove the plate in front if the pump and (depending on the pump
some simply would slide out, others you had to remove a nutand faniggle with it.) take lines and bolts off pump and have a new seal put in. Before you do all that. Smell your oil. Smell like diesel? Oil level really high? thin looking too?
Yep, thats the problem. Otherwise broke ring. ....
