Hello. I am new to the site and a new owner of a belarus 250AS 1988. I have been using it for about 6 weeks building a rock wall with the loader. No problems. I recently cleaned the air filter changed the oil and cleaned the air intake, tractor started right up no problems ran fine. I , stopped the engine, tried to restart and it would not turn over. Dead. Removed and charged the batteries. Nothing. Jumped the solenoid started right up, but lights did not go on, horn did not blow. Shut the tractor off, depressed the negative ground light and horns worked. I also noticed when the tractor was running and the negative ground was depressed it was not showing any change in amperage. I suspect its the solenoid, but this light thing has me a little confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Thx

Bob

"... depressed the negative ground light...." Don't know what that means, but I'd troubleshoot all the connections, especially the ground and including the key-switch before I accused the solenoid.

Incidentally, some tractors get voltage-regulator damage from shorting the starter. Spend $10 on a push-button aux. starter, clip one wire from the button-box to the battery + and the other to the starter terminal (which is not necessarily one of the two large terminals on the starter). ....
