Dear Steve, I'm very surprised that the significance of the new Kubota L48 has been overlooked by those who participate in this board. I, however, see an answer to the needs of many trades people, in particular, small contractors and landscapers like myself. It has been ages since a compact tractor manufacturer has fully addressed the necessary evolution of the small construction tractor - obviously Kubota has caught Cub, Deere, and NH fully unawares. Why am I so delighted with the L48? The reasons are valid and will cause this design, I am sure, to be more of a success than the L35! Here is the first small construction tractor with the guts to get serious work done. Starting at the front, a true 2000lb plus lift to full height loader, multi-purpose bucket, 48 clean burning quiet horses, MFWD, plenty of hydro gpm, hydrostatic drive, and ending with the most powerful backhoe I've seen on a small machine. And, I add, the operator stays under the FOPS to run the hoe (like the L35) leaving the possibility for a full hard sided cab. The price seems right too. Why buy a Case 580 and drag around more weight and grief than necessary? The L48 is light enough to eliminate the need for a bigger truck and trailer, it makes perfect operating and economical sense. I'm not in a position to buy one this year, but knowing it exists will make it almost a sure purchase when the time does come. Kubota did its homework and now the competition has a new mark to come up to. BRAVO Kubota! ....

I'm thinking it might be less 'maintenance' than the wife, and probably quieter after being left in the shop for a few days....... possibly even more dependable in bad weather, she kinda likes to stay close to the fireplace when the weather turns nasty....... ....

Art, she has often said she thinks I only keep her around 'cause 1) I can't get the Kubota's through the front door to clean the house with the sweeper, and 2) even with all the options the tractors are still missing a few critical parts if you get my drift......... That and it's a case of the Golden Rule...... The guy with the GOLD MAKES THE RULES! ....
